Risks & Myths
Honesty and integrity are two things that Home Farm, and our family, place at the centre of what we do. We’re open about the risks of raw milk, because we firmly believe that we’ve done everything possible to minimise these risks and maximise the benefits that drinking raw milk can bring you.
Here’s what you should know:
Drinking raw milk means that you are drinking an entirely natural, untreated product, and there are risks associated with this.
If you search online for these, you will most likely be saturated with pseudo-science and unfounded, contradictory claims. It can sometimes feel that it’s impossible to find anything of any real use, but there are some basic things you need to know.
By law, we have to display this label for customers to see:
“This milk has not been heat treated and may therefore contain organisms harmful to health”.
If you refer to the NHS LiveWell website, it is put into simpler terms. They simply advise you avoid raw milk if...
You have a weakened immune system - You are pregnant - You are very young - You are very elderly
If you’re a healthy adult, all risks are kept as low as they can be if you ensure it is fresh and kept in the right conditions.

Some Myths to Dispel:
We do NOT feed or inject our cows with growth hormones, and these do NOT pass into our milk. This is illegal in the United Kingdom.
Cows are NOT fed beef or any other meat. This is entirely illegal and cows are not carnivorous.
Our cows are NOT kept in small stalls that restrict movement. They’re free to graze or kept in our barns with plenty of straw and space to stretch out.
Milk is NOT red, orange, brown or any other colour. It is white, and does NOT contain blood.
Our cows are healthy and grass fed, and we strongly believe that the many benefits of drinking Simply Milk outweigh the small risks involved!
